Advanced Charts & Visualizations
Gain deeper insights with heatmaps, cohort analysis, conversion funnels, and period comparisons.
Premium Feature
The heatmap shows visitor activity by day of week and hour of day. Darker colors indicate higher traffic. Use this to:
- Schedule content publishing at peak times
- Plan maintenance during low-traffic periods
- Understand global audience time zones
Cohort analysis groups visitors by when they first visited and tracks their return rate. Options include:
- Daily: Day-over-day retention
- Weekly: Week-over-week retention
- Monthly: Month-over-month retention
Compare your current performance against historical data to identify trends. Compare against:
- Previous Period: Same length period immediately before
- Previous Year: Same period last year
Metrics include pageviews, visitors, sessions, bounce rate, and average session duration.
Build custom funnels to track conversion paths. Each step can be:
- Pageview: A specific URL path
- Event: A custom event name
- Goal: A configured goal
See conversion rates and drop-off percentages at each step.
Accessing Advanced Charts
Navigate to Charts in your site's sidebar to access all advanced visualizations. Use the tabs to switch between different chart types.
Building a Funnel
- Click the Funnel tab
- Configure at least 2 steps (minimum required)
- For each step, select the type (pageview, event, or goal)
- Enter the value (URL path, event name, or goal name)
- Give each step a display name
- Click Generate Funnel to see results
Example Funnels
Here are some common funnel configurations:
E-commerce Purchase Funnel
- Step 1: Homepage (pageview: /)
- Step 2: Product Page (pageview: /products/*)
- Step 3: Add to Cart (event: add_to_cart)
- Step 4: Checkout (pageview: /checkout)
- Step 5: Purchase Complete (goal: purchase)
SaaS Signup Funnel
- Step 1: Landing Page (pageview: /)
- Step 2: Pricing Page (pageview: /pricing)
- Step 3: Signup Page (pageview: /register)
- Step 4: Registration Complete (goal: signup)
Tips for Using Charts
- Use the date filter to adjust the time period for all charts
- Cohort analysis works best with at least 2-4 weeks of data
- For accurate comparisons, ensure both periods have similar traffic patterns
- Save successful funnel configurations by bookmarking the page
